What if you could combine an SD card with an ESP8266 Wifi module? Well, the idea is that it would give you full remote access to the contents of your SD card - while it's in your 3D printer! Let's find out if that's enough to make it a viable alternative to a full-blown OctoPrint setup.

CNC Kitchen : I have no words anymore after watching the intro
marsgizmo : like the new haircut Tom and excellent explanations for the adapter
ProjectAir : That surprise DIY haircut was hilarious, and so smoothly transitioned into! Nice one Tom
Sag Ichnicht : I still find it hillarious that Thomas makes advertisements for a coffee brand he and anyone else in Europe can't get. I know, lot's of US Americans are probably watching, but still.
Ed French : You could try soldering a decent capacitor onto the board: makes esp's a lot more stable from brownouts

rawj1213 : "There's nothing in that box" saids Linus. Nothing in that box except broken dreams. Dreams of how Linus would one day appreciate it's boxiness.
Alex Armstrong : This is the first time you've really convinced me of a product. Now I just need a use for it.
vicdez : Wow, I guess what's old is new again. I remember wifi sd cards back in the Palm Pilot/Treo days.

Nice twist on these things. I might still have one in a drawer somewhere.
Raúl P : mis suplicas han sido escuchadas, al fin, excelente producto
Vince Pale : I love stumbling onto a NCIX Tech Tips video in 2018, for a real thing I'm researching, not just for the LUL look Linus is YUNG!

Add WiFi to any Camera with a WiFi SD card!

It's possible to add WiFi to any camera, including that old DSLR sitting on your shelf.

in this video, I show a simple but clever SD card that has built in WiFi and allows you to transfer pictures from your camera to your phone, tablet or laptop without connecting any wires and without installing any apps.

Wi-Fi enabled SD cards are quite a bit more expensive than their regular counterparts but they're extremely convenient if you want to be able to access and share your photos while on the go.

I'm using the Transcend 16GB Wi-Fi SDHC card but there are other manufacturers who also sell similar products.

For the techies out there, believe it or not, the card is actually running a Linux OS and you can get root access to install extra scripts and apps. Of course it's quite limited due to the low-power CPU and small amount of RAM.

Giean : Filmed on 2016, and I’m just discovering this now?! Gonna look the prices on this one, it’ll be very useful for my old canon eos 650d.
Heisenberg : 2018 and i just found out this is a thing
Mugofbrown : Thanks, I'll give this a go. When I'm out "hunting" with my camera I worry about backing up and editing my photos. I never take a laptop on my travels but always my phone with decent editing software in it. This might just make life alot easier for me.
C Suhendra : It's 2020...and yes, now I don't need to break my heart to discard my first dslr camera. Thanks!
